Catching up on Reading

So I took this past long weekend to catch up on some reading, but for the first time in months my list didn't include anything to do with my classes. Guilty pleasure reading all the way. Yes, I was re-reading Tune in Anytime by Caroline B. Cooney. Not the most sophisticated reading, but it was fun. It was nice to read something easy, something that would most definitely have a happy ending. Next up? Who knows! I'm open to suggestions if anybody out there has a favourite book and they're dying to spread the word.

Does anybody else turn to books from their childhood to relax? Or guilty pleasure reading in general, the type of stuff you don't want to be caught on transit with?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everybody! I hope your long weekend is fabulous and you're not stuck inside all day. I'll leave you with some colourful spring images. The flowers are from around town and just scream spring to me (although it's a rather grey day in reality).

Home For the Weekend

As much as I love living alone (well somewhat alone...there's always that whole roommate issue) sometimes a weekend at home is nice. There's food in the fridge and if I had laundry to do I wouldn't have to pay. Sometimes it's the small things in life. Especially when it's the end of the semester and you haven't worked for pay since the past August. Those first few days back are fantastic. Of course if you stay any longer it's back to reality, but for now, I'm going to revel in the laziness that is my Good Friday.

Laundry Day .....See you there?

I cannot be the only one out there who lets laundry pile up. I finally got around to doing some today, five loads and still a load to go. I'll probably wait awhile to get to that one.

Every time I go to do my laundry I feel crazy. Probably because I end up singing songs from Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog.  I put on a load and start humming; I look ridiculous. The lyrics are just so catchy! I really am a theatre geek and proud of it. You can't get geekier than singing in the laundry room and I wouldn't have it any other way!

There's actually almost something therapeutic about doing laundry, that is until you have to walk up the seventeen flights of stairs to get to your apartment carrying it. The smell of it is just so comforting. I keep inhaling as I fold. It feels nice to be getting things back on track life-wise. Laundry is getting done; applications are being filled out. Things aren't ridiculously crazy right now.

And now in a drastic shift I'm going to get up on my little soap box. If you're not from Canada please forgive me. If you are from Canada, well I beg your forgiveness too, especially since the next paragraph is aimed at you.

If you're living in Canada don't forget to vote on May 2! The last election recorded one of the lowest voter turnout in Canadian history. So don't be apathetic; it takes five minutes of your time! If you need help finding your riding or how to vote go to the elections Canada website; they've got all the information you need. Really it doesn't matter to me who  you vote for; just go out and vote.

Spring in the Air?

Could it finally be spring? After weeks of stormy weather and freak snow incidents has spring arrived? The weather today certainly points towards that possibility...although I'm still skeptical.

Either way, the weather today is gorgeous, so I've put together an outfit for it. Not something I have, but in my ideal, credit card debt-less world, something I would purchase. I am a consumer whore, who knew. Anyways, I thought about wearing something fun and colourful today before realizing my wardrobe was all black. So here it is.

First off, this ocean flow teal wrap dress from Ruche is so pretty. I love the bright teal, perfect for such a sunny day.

Pair that with these wedge peep toes from H&M along with a few accessories and a grey cardigan, you're good to go!

So does the weather changing inspire new outfit ideas for you? And yes, this is just an excuse to not clean my room!

Cleaning

I did it. I survived the school year. I made it through the show season, turned in all of my essays (albeit late) and my number two pencils are dulled from all the exam writing I completed. Yet I'm still here and standing.

My room however is not. It is a disaster. My laundry has been piling up since my second to last show of the season and I'm literally left with nothing hanging. The contents of my drawers and closet are on the floor. While I normally try to post an image to make things a little more eye catching there is no way a picture of my room in this state is going up online.

I'm trying to find the time to organize my life post stress and am have difficulty. Where to start? The whole task at this point is so daunting.

I'm thinking maybe some positive imagery at this point to get the ball rolling?

Okay, scratch that; I'm just using it as a time waster.  Hopefully I'll be updating next with a post about how fabulous it feels to spring clean. But then again what are the chances of that happening?
